A Level Mathematics

It is never too late to fill in any gaps left by your education. Our part-time maths courses are a great opportunity to improve your numeracy skills in a friendly and supportive environment. All our courses are government funded up to L2 or GCSE grade 9.

We offer maths courses at the following levels:

• GCSE (in college)

• Functional Skills Level 2 (in college or online)

• Functional Skills Level 1 (in college or online)

GCSE Maths is tailored to meet the requirements of GCSE Mathematics. The course has a Foundation tier (grades 1-5) and a Higher tier (grades 4-9). The subject content includes Number, Algebra, Ratio and Proportion, Geometry and Measures, Probability and Statistics.

The Functional Skills Maths courses will cover number skills, shape and space, ratio, measurement, area and volume, percentages and data handling, fractions, nets, probability, with additional emphasis on non-calculator work.

You can also enrol for online Functional Skills Maths and study at your own speed from the comfort of your own home. This course is particularly suitable for those learners with other life commitments and 24 hour course access guaranteed. There is online tutor support to guide to guide you through the programme.

Frequently Asked Questions

You will study a combination of pure maths, mechanics and statistics over two years.

In the first year you will study either mechanics or statistics alongside pure mathematics which extends what you have learned at school, as well as introducing you to important new ideas and methods.

In the second year you will study some topics from statistics or mechanics while also continuing your study of pure maths.

2 Years

In class, face to face.

Three two hour exam papers at the end of your second year.

Level 3 EDEXCEL GCE A Level in Mathematics

During your two years of study you will undertake a work placement. You will also hear from a variety of industry speakers, visit careers’ fairs and attend workshops, trips and visits.

Advanced Apprenticeship, University Programme, Employment in many sector
areas.
